The UCP is clearly drawing from the Trump cult playbook; voter suppression, fixing imaginary problems like electronic vote tabulators, legislation that enables arbitrary abuse of power and the rule of law, smearing opponents as anti-Alberta and radical (although calling Nenshi a communist is on brand with Klein calling Kevin Taft a communist) and most importantly, using government to implement the agenda of a far right minority. It's going to be a long, and ugly, three years.
As I understand it the UCP under Smith won the election because of rural voters so I find it puzzling that they would bring in this law that may negatively affect rural voters. But I think bringing in Bill 20 is par for the course of Danielle Smith who indulges the likes of Tucker Carlson. Albertans should be aware that we may be heading down a slippery slope towards a form of autocracy in this province, in my opinion, if we don't stand up & loudly say NO to Bill 20.
